I decided to become involved with Nebraska Hands & Voices because my son, Daniel, has a dual diagnosis. Daniel has Down syndrome and a hearing impairment. He was the 1st student with Down syndrome to be in the hearing impaired classroom in our school district and I felt that this organization is a good resource for Daniel’s needs. Since Daniel does have a dual diagnosis, he straddles both worlds, and we wanted to make sure that we were informed and involved with his needs.
Hands & Voices Nebraska provides our family with the information, support, and encouragement that we need to advocate, not only for our child, but for any child with a hearing impairment or who is deaf.
