Kelly Reimers – Parent Guide

Hello! My name is Kelly Reimers.  My husband is Eric Reimers, and we have two amazing kiddos: Mason who is fifteen years old and Natalie who is thirteen. Natalie was diagnosed at birth as having bilateral mild-to-severe sensorineural hearing loss and has been wearing hearing aids since the ripe age of three months old! We lived in Parker, Colorado until Natalie was two and a half years old, so we had a taste of what services were like, living in a big city. We moved to Dalton, Nebraska in 2008 and have been blessed with opportunities and challenges that come with living in a small community and having a child with hearing loss. Natalie lets nothing slow her down and is very active, participating in volleyball, basketball, track, braiding everyone’s hair on the daily, and is in her last year of Confirmation at our country church. If you ask Natalie, she thinks the need for an FM system or multi mic is unnecessary (teenagers!); however, she has used one since she was in preschool. I work from home for a real estate company based out of Colorado; just call me Jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none, haha! In my spare time, I enjoy playing volleyball, wake boarding, snowboarding, volunteering at the local school and church, and catching up with my girlfriends to make sure I’m still a normal mom! I am very excited about the opportunity to be a Guide By Your Side Parent Guide, and while my motivation is obvious, my intent is to ensure families don’t feel alone in this big world of unknowns.
