Phallary Rath (11th Grade, Bellevue, NE)
Congratulations to Phallary Rath! Nebraska Hands and Voices Guide By Your Side August 2019 Rising Star! Nebraska Hands and Voices GBYS, along with Nebraska EHDI, recognizes students that are Deaf or hard of hearing who stand out with our monthly Rising Star award.
Phallary’s interpreter, Janelle Hunt, at Bellevue University nominated her for the award, writing the following about her attributes:
Hello, I would like to nominate Phallary Rath for the Rising Star award. Phallary will be in the 11th grade during the 2019-20 school year at Bellevue West High School. I have been Phallary’s interpreter since she was in the 7th grade, and she has grown and matured beyond my wildest dreams. Phallary has gone from a girl that would take her hearing aids out and shut down to a young lady that advocates for herself and deals with change. Phallary is an A student who is loved by all of the teachers, staff, and students. Phallary enjoys helping out at the Sign Language Club meetings and gets excited when hearing people take the time to learn how to communicate with her. I think Phallary would be a great choice for the Rising Star award.
Congratulations Phallary! Thank you for being such a wonderful example to others and for being a bright light and inspiration to everyone you meet!
