Becca Vach

Becca Vach, Parent Guide

"When we first received our son's diagnosis we felt completely alone and uncertain of which path to take. We did our best to make decisions on our own but each choice we made weighed heavily on our hearts. Since joining Hands & Voices we have received a tremendous amount of support, a listening ear when our path seemed so uncertain, and have been able to see our son engage in ways he typically does not at events offered by the organization. We will forever be grateful for H&V and all the support they have provided us!"

"As a professional, I love being part of Hands & Voices because when families connect with other families and with deaf and hard of hearing adults, great things happen!"

Tatum Munhall

Tatum Munhall, Parent

"Hands & Voices has benefited my family and I in so many different ways. Soon after we received Laramie's diagnosis of profound deafness, Hands and Voices showed us that there was a light at the end of the tunnel. We quickly realized that although the journey with our second child wouldn't be what we thought, it was going to be just as fun and we and our daughter would be just fine. Hands and Voices has given us encouragement, love and support that is irreplaceable."

Membership Dues

Your membership dues are an investment in Nebraska Hands & Voices mission to provide parent-driven support without bias to families. The nominal dues we collect provide our organization with access to unrestricted funds that can be used to enhance the services and supports we provide. However, we recognize that raising a child who is deaf or hard of hearing can put added strain on your family's resources. In line with our mission to support families, we don’t want money to be the barrier that keeps you from receiving needed support.

Membership scholarships are available on a case-by-case basis, and scholarship recipients will receive a membership for one full calendar year. Membership scholarships can be extended, but applicants must re-apply annually.

NE H&V offers two programs:

  • Guide By Your Side (H&V GBYS): This is a program created to provide unbiased support to families with D/HH children. H&V GBYS does this through specially trained parents of children who are D/HH. These parents work as “Guides" directly with families who have just learned of their child's hearing condition, or who have older children and are in need of the unique support that comes from someone else who has walked this path. H&V GBYS can also provide opportunities for families to meet other D/HH children and adults at social events, in-person meetings, and through panels presentations, etc.

  • Hands & Voices ASTra program: This is designed to empower parents, promote self-advocacy for children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, and build collaborative relationships between families and professionals. The NE Hands & Voices ASTra program can provide resources, workshops, and individualized support to help you meet the needs of your child. You must be a member of Nebraska H&V to receive support
