Testing a Child's Hearing

About this Resource

Almost all babies born in the United States receive a routine Newborn Hearing Screening either before leaving the hospital or within three weeks after dismissal. A small percentage of babies are referred for further hearing testing. Watch this brief, 3-minute video to learn more about how follow-up testing is done on newborns who do not pass their hearing screening at birth. Boys Town National Research Hospital is a nationally accredited research institution that has been instrumental in the development of many hearing screening tools that are now routinely used across the country.
