Daisy Staab
My name is Daisy Staab and I live in Broken Bow with my husband Russell who is Deaf along with our two wonderful children: Shayla and Ryker. Shayla is hearing. Ryker has some hearing loss, the majority in his left ear. He did wear hearing aids briefly but wasn’t fond of it. Shayla is homeschooled and Ryker attends Broken Bow High School. Shayla is a self-taught barrel racer and very involved in the equine world. Ryker is involved in basketball and track. He did run in Cross Country. He plays trumpet in the band. Russell has owned his Locksmith business for 17 years. I am a rural carrier for USPS, this June will be my 20th year. Russell and I recently created a Deaf and Hard of Hearing platform at our “work from home” business where Deaf and Hard of Hearing adults/parents can build a strong and stable financial income for themselves and their families. We are a household of full American Sign Language user. Shayla and Ryker are fluent in ASL. We as a family enjoy traveling, going to natural hot springs, hiking, camping, skiing, and outdoor activities. We are also homesteaders, we enjoy growing our own food and preserving it. We have horses, chickens, and cats. We have three dogs who we consider our kids also. I am happy to be here to share my journey and experience as a Deaf person with other parents and to give guidance where they can give the best support to their children.
